Social Saturday: Carnaval

 

The Carnaval/Carnival season has started and I can feel everyone around me is so excited for the celebration.

In this part of The Netherlands, the season started on the 11^th of November at 11 am. They call it “de elfde van de elfde” which means the 11^th of the 11^th.  This originates way back from celebrations before the Advent season.

At work, a lot of people are taking days off to celebrate. This just shows everyone in this region is looking forward to the festivities. I on the other hand will just be on my desk doing my thing.

I only recently moved to this part of the Netherlands where Carnaval is highly celebrated. This wasn’t the case where I used to live which is on the western part of the country. So I am quite intrigued as to how it is going to be. The celebrations will be on one month from now, from the 13-17^th of February.

As everyone will all be dressed up, I might just have to find something to blend in. I absolutely have no idea what to wear, as I have never celebrated this before. Do you have any idea what I should be pick up?
